I want to know how many of you have some professional degree mainly in
computers and still making your living from adsense and other online sources
rather than working in a company.

actually i am a computer engineer and working in a software company, and
thinking of making my living from online sources... so just want to know your opinion.. how much good it is??

I can't remember who owns it, but I don't normally use my signature here these days so someone asked me if I wouldlink to their site...Seemed like a decent site so I had no problem with that

    Cheers

BA, MA, Ph.D. I sometimes say I was an Ecologist when it was science, not religion :) I moved from Biology to computers when they let me use FORTRAN for one of the required languages.

I find it extremely ironic that less than 10 people ever read my dissertation while my website pages get half a million page views a year. I am going to use my dissertation as content for a website and see if I can get some value from it that way.

My degrees never helped me, as they did not teach me anything about SEO, PR, SERPs, Weight or LinkVault. :)

I have Business Administration degree from Loyola (Chicago).

It doesn't do me any good now. But I met a lot of people and learned quite a bit in school.

Working on a Master's in Software Systems - more than half way done. My BA is in philosophy. I'm an official liberal arts refugee.

I got into IT when an IT or MIS degree didn't really mean anything. It seems a lot harder to get into now without an MIS or BS degree of some sort. The helpdesk where I work even employs a few people with BSs in Computer Science. A few years back I was hired as a helpdesk technician with a philosophy degree and about 1 year of computer experience, mostly done on the side. I've moved up through programmer and analyst ranks. I'm not sure if I'd get away with that now without a relevant degree.
