Im one of the self-employer. Just because I like to make decision and tiring on getting the same salary although make more money for the company, so i prefer work for myself, I earn better if I did better

I became self employed as I wanted a career that was varied. I hated that after uni my skills were focusing on what jobs I should go for, they were same each day. I got sick of never being appreciated or pushed to work to my full ability.

Being Self-Employed empowers you to greater things because your success is dependant on what you do and how well you do it. The results are up to you. How and when you run your business is up to you and that is the best feeling you can have. Making it happen on your own terms rather than working for someone else is the ultimate and everyone who does this, has much greater success than if they were working for someone else..Hope that further helps...

Why? SENSE OF OWNERSHIP. I am my own boss. I dictate my own time, my own terms. I own responsibility. And to some extent, EGO (the positive kind).

No one to tell you what time to start and finish
No one to say when you can and can't have a day off or a holiday
No one to answer to but yourself
Freedom to spend as many hours as you like with the family
No waking up by an alarm bell.
No sitting in rush hour traffic (to and from work)
    Much much higher earnings

Usual day: wake up when my body tells me to, coffee, walk the dogs, up to the garden centre for a fry-up, back home check emails, take the wife shopping, come home, check emails and check that my work is being carried out correctly by my many associates around the world, send out a few invoices, play the xbox for a bit, sit out in the garden with a beer.... wonderful life...

I am a full time freelance writer and a part time internet marketer, so I too work from home. I put in a lot of hours for my clients and I guess you could say that it pays the bills. However I am trying to learn all I can about IM so that eventually it will overtake my freelancing income. I am earning money from it, but nowhere near enough yet...But I'm working on it..

Working for yourself is the best feeling and it gives you a great sense of acheivement..

    Onwards and upwards

self-employed for the time freedom and insane money, and I get to hang with like-minded spirits; totally leveraged: no inventory, no employees, tax deductible overhead and travel:)

I am not self employed but hope to be soon. I work two part time jobs to pay for my hobbies and server costs etc.. online stuff.. I then go home and work on websites and hope to one day be able to quit my job and work at home. The main disadvantage I see with working at home/self employed is that there is no guaranteed wage per hour. When you are online anything could change, you could go to making thousands a month, to making pennies a month, the internet is unpredictable. On the other hand your working you got a guaranteed salary.

Thats why you are supposed to earn moneey for the rough times, you can also invest your online money in real-estate and such, which is usually a good investment.

What i think is that it really depends on what your site is about, but still, i find 1 year to be small time in a learning curve, it took em 2 years to lear to design, and im still learning so many exciting stuff until today.

It depends on everyone really, but i think i would feel bad knowing im just another number working for someone else, all they care about is the money they make, and you are just another tool to make more money...
