    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

How many sites?

    Hi all,

I am just about finishing my first major website about now, and will be looking at geting it somewhere near the top of google shortly, and getting ad-sense on there.

It is essentially a shopping cart type website, selling a variety of things, and each item page has been "mod-rewritten" to include the title of the product (with spaces replaced with underscores). So hopefully, each auction will appear in google?

Anyway, ad-sense will go on the individual page for each item, so that the ads are targetted to the kind of person who would be viewing that particular product.

    Does all this sound feasible?

Should I stop here and see how this goes? I have also started a second website which should be done very quickly, but from then on - my 2 sites should hopefully take care of themselves.

Is the next step to make more spammy type pages which contain generic information on stuff like loans, etc.. In the hope to entice the unsuspecting visitors to click an ad?

Im just wondering how I would start this. I assume I first need to think of a topic, and then check google for what ranks highest for those keywords, then optimize from there to try and beat whats at the top?

Back to the topic, I was wondering how many websites you all own, and how long it has taken you to develop them....

    Cheers.

If you're a website simply to get users to click on AdSense ads, then you're going down the wrong path. AdSense strictly forbids spam websites for high paying ads.

It takes time to get to the top for Google. You need to have a high pagerank which means good inbound links to your site.

    I run about 10 websites.

Yep that was my thinking also.

My main site is obviously a legitimate one. In fact, It wasn't until I started reading these forums that I even learned about adsense - and i've been working on my website for years now.

My second one is more of a blog which again, is not going to be optimized for adsense or anything, its just something fun and simple that I'd like to do.

I am just trying to look ahead at future websites now. I have read posts of people who have many websites (like over 20) and was curious as to why this is necessary?
Let's say they are sites on topics ranging from diets to loans. Why not group them into one large website with many subcatagories. Is there any benefit to having multiple sites?

Does it have anthing to do with registering several legitimate businesses with an adsense account each? Thus reducing the risk of a PR burp crippling you.

If your website is providing a useful source of information and good content then it probably doesn't matter if the only revenue is adsense
