    Hiya DP'ers
A company that make games online (based in Germany) are interested in acquiring a COPY of my drawapig site (http://drawapig.desktopcreatures.com/) which they will then translate into German and 'pimp' to the German speaking public.

This copy would include all the code (flash + asp), database (though I would not give them the email addresses of which there are over 50,000) and all pigs drawn thus far (Over 624,000) plus help in setting it up on their servers.

The question is, what should I ask for? and what are the potential problems in selling a copy of a site?

    Appreciate any advice

I would offer it to them cheap, if you trust them and want to do business with them. OR hire a german translator and DIY.

Ask for a % of the company or revenue instead or sell them a renewable licence on the product. Also, give them EXCLUSIVE german rights or European so they feel secure and you can sell to other countries too.

If the go for this option, then they also get some access to you, advertising on your site etc etc..ongoing development news/ info etc..It will mean they have lower initial investment too, increasing the likelyhood of them making money from it.

Have it all branded under 1 name. The german site will have german content + anchors, so dup should be no issue IMO.

I would sell them a license to use one copy of the site WITHOUT resell rights. It's important to emphasize that.

I think you could get 6 months of income the site has produced, based on proven potential.

I was tinking that I could host it, that way I can keep the code to myself, and would save them on the setup costs.

Then if I charge a monthly, and they don't pay, I at least have some powers.

Check out about their reputation. If that is OK contact a business lawyer.
Thats perhaps the best way to go.
