How much to charge for an article translation?

    Hello,

    I want to know how much will you charge for a translation of two technical articles (about the webmaster world)?
    One article is 1446 words and the other is 507 words.
    I think i can translate that around 3 hours or work.
    Do you think 40$ is okay?

    I think it is enough.. normal rate is $0.02 - 0.03 per word..

    It depends on your writing ability i.e. grammar and word usage. I think the price is fair for decent work.

    if there are a lot of technical terms involved.. and you have to do some research on the subject matter.. I will hit it up a bit ore.. $50...

    The price of the translation can vary depending on a number of circumstances

    * The availability of translators in your language pair (supply & demand)
    * Specialized field of knowledge
    * Additional services (fact checking, source code, ...)
    * Turnaround time (extra fee for fast translations)
    * Long term customers get a discount

    I started out charging $US 0.03 per word (English->German) and currently with 2 years of experience I charge $US 0.08 as a base price for general web-copy. I charge a minimum fee of $US40 to not get pestered with 1 sentence translations. Unfortunately there is not much business here on DP that pays this price, so I mostly look elsewhere for jobs.

    If you are just starting I would start between 40 and 45$ but if you have some ways to proove your skills you can also change more in some case

    i think each work has a specific rate like 0.2 for each word or 5-7 dollars for paragraph i don't really remember the rates

    good translation is worth paying for... $0.03 per word is a good starting point and you should definitely ask for a minimum fee per article

    Finally, the budget of my employee was only from 10$ to 15$ so i make him a deal for 15$ the two articles. ^^'
