How much would he earn in your country?

Just saw the following job opening:

Store manager
Needed:
Administrative college degree
3-5 years experience as a store manager
Experience in staff supervision, sales control and administration
Office knowledge
Used to work on daily sales goals
No schedule problems and willing to work on weekends


(more or less what the aplicant needs, I had a tough time translating some of it, but I think you can understand)

Shift would be at least 8 hours (although as a store manager here you would work about 9 or 10 hours)

Could you let me know more or less how much this person would earn in your country?

if it's retail sales - store manager in Canada probably around $24-31K.
A degree would help you earn more, but why retail when you have a degree.

A college diploma is usually 2 yrs, while a university degree here is about 4 yrs. All depends on who the owner & company is as well.

How much are they offering there?

 

The store is one of the biggest home electronic stores around here, some kind of Sears for the poor, lol

Tell me about it. I used to work as a manager at a cinemma. Shifts were 9 hours per day. Working weekends and holidays (nothing worse than seing your friends in shorts enjoying a movie while you are dressed in a suit working your ass off). I had to work even at Christmas eve, and got out at 11:00 pm if I was lucky (so I could always "enjoy" all the Christmas dinner leftovers.

I had one day off, I could pick between monday to thursday (because friday counts as a weekend). But if there was some meeting or some other important issue, I had to be at work, so good bye day off.

Once in a month I had to be there on a sunday at 7:00 a.m. for our monthly staff meeting.

And for work, it involved EVERYTHING. controlling staf, dealing with clients, dealing with sales people, if you had the morning shift you had to start all the operations of the day, and if you had the night shift you had to fill up all kind of daily reports and usually got out at 2:00 a.m.

That is the normal life of any manager position here. You are just in charge of everything. One person has 100 duties to take care of.

 

I work in retail management in the UK and am degree educated so I have a fairly good idea what kind of salary that position would come with. For a smaller company I would say the salary could be as low as £25000 (c. $45000 usd). However, for a large national chain, a store manager could be earning up to £60000 (c. $110000 usd) per annum, plus bonuses, share options, company car, health care, etc, etc.

As you said though Fryman, in that line of business, your life is pretty well owned and the hours of work can be excessive.

 

Yeah, and here you get paid $8,700 a year for it. Take out the huge taxes they charge here and if you end up with $7,500 you are lucky.

But this keeps me motivated... thinking that I could be in such a job just makes me work harder on my sites. I sure would do it for 110k... heck, even for 45k, but 7.5k is just pathetic.

 

The thing with economies though, is that you see the flip-side - your adsense earnings give you far more spending power in Mexico than they would here in the UK.

Could you actually live on 7.5k over in the US?

 

If you lived in a tent in the desert, and managed to find some road kill on occasion. Maybe. Not a chance...

$625/mo....That would be brutal, but doable in Venezuela

 

in my country,, the average salary of employee here is only $2400 / per year. too low. by the way the price of Beer here is only $0.35 cents.

Here in the USA there is such a wide range of pay in retail. It really depends on the company, volume and location. 25K-110K is the general price range with the majority of Store Managers making 30K-60K.

I used to run (General Manager) a high end retail store. During the Christmas season we peaked at 155 employees. The volume was high and I had one of those "high profile" stores so the money was very close to the top end. In fact I had assistant managers that made 55K a year without bonuses. So in retail it depends on so many things.

 

In my country, having all this qualification and work ex , a person will earn around 6600. And definately, its quite sufficient too, initially
