    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

How should I place ads where 90% of visitors are repeat visitors (and it's a forum)?

My website is Maloria. It's a website for a specific server/clan for an online computer game, Graal. Since the members are dedicated to the game, 90% of my visitors return, and 80% visit my site through a bookmark; so this means that they will be familiar with the location of ads, and they probably have seen the entire, or most, of the ads in rotation and probably get used to the ads, enough so that they don't click on them that much.

    Some quick stats:

    • ~70 members visit/day
    • ~150 new posts/day
    • ~3,000 pageviews/day

    My CTR

I've spent some time during the last few days optimizing the ads as best I could, but I'm sure I can do better, because my average CTR for this past week is 0.25%, and I would like to improve this greatly as I've heard that some forums can make much more than that.

    Help!

So, if you have any advice and suggestions, then please let me know what you would change to improve the CTR!

For particular pages, such as when viewing a thread or a forum, the ads are in different locations. Some example pages:

    • a thread (1 banner, 2 boxes, 1 link unit)
    • a forum (2 skyscrapers, 1 single ad unit, 1 link unit)

Any suggestions as to what I should change?

    1. I can see that not all google ads blocks show ads. Many of them show public service ads. Might be due to the lack of advertisers for your niche. Add more content.

    2. Change the location of ads like every three days. Keep three styles of ad blending in a file and use each for a few days. I think this will help the ads get more clicks.

You could also try CPM ads. That way it doesn't matter that you get a lot of repeat visitors. But it is rather hard to get an account with the major CPM networks with only 3000 pageviews a day.

I can't really 'add more content' because the content is the posts by the members, and they usually write short sentences.

What are some of the major CPM networks that I could go with?

The major ones are Value click, Casale media and Tribal fusion. I have no idea what their minimum traffic requirements are.

Okay thanks, I've contacted them, but doubt I'll be able to get them because I don't have enough pageviews per day.
