How to Avoid being Scammed?

I lose my money twice at DP, so based on this experience.. before you make a transaction I want to suggest you:
    • For first message dont use other media, like email, or IM.. Just send a PM to the user.. so this way you can make sure the user is valid or no.
    • Dont forget to see or read about other review about the seller.
    • If possible make sure the things that you buy is worked

That from me, any else? I hope this thread will help other to avoid the scam.

    Thanks ceo.ahlul.

    In addition to that, check:
The sellers iTrader, it's a great indicator of his reputation on DP
When did the seller join DP.
The sellers post count, more posts usually mean a more reputable member
The type of posts the seller makes on the forum. Are his posts useful? or Do they look like spam?
And last but not least, the ol' if its too good to be ture, then it most likely is

Too good to be true is not true. It is all part of sales pitch.

Don't be a impulsive buyer! Study the seller in-depth, if you really can't wait, try to hold at least one day. Maybe tomorrow you'll change your mind.

Wait for the reviews of the product and if the OP is offering something like "earn $500 just for $5" It is 100% scam.!

Still a lot of people dont even want to deal with new people on this site. I am new here and it has been very difficult to find work. I only have 2 legitimate clients so far from this site and it is just not enough because I have to charge so low in order to get work from people here because I am so new.

People tend to over look me only because I am new here.. without even talking to me first. Usually scammers don't make genuine posts and tend to copy and paste a lot. They also copy and paste in PM's.

I learned that the hard way and made websites for 1 scammer on DP and he refused to pay me until I sent him the HTML files for the website I built.. I did it only because I was desperate for money and wanted to trust that I would get paid.. but I then never heard from him again nor received any payment for all the work I did!! :-(

So yeah be careful of scammers but also don't pass by someone just because they are new. Talk to them first and then decide.

I don't know why people scam other people. It really disgusts me.Scamming people will catch up to you and only hurts you in the long run.First i would suggest to use a service like escrow if you want to really be safe.I really feel bad for freelancers who use DP to make some money and scammers only make it hard for those people.Another piece of advice to freelancers always watermark your samples.Make sure the samples aren't too big either. And never give your full product to someone who says he will pay you.You work hard on a project and for someone you did for doesn't pay you for your efforts when a deal was arranged is wrong.I believe amazon has a payment processing service when after the payment is complete the buyer has a certain amount of time to download it and could only download it a certain amount of times also.Hope my little story helps.Man I just realized how much I wrote.LOL.Good luck on your future projects!

I really don't know how people can scam others. Believe in karma... what goes around, comes around.

I have had the unfortunate experience of being scammed, but not on DP. Let's say it wasn't a pleasant experience, but I did learn some things from it.

You just need to be careful, You need to check the iTrader and you need to make sure you never send the payment up front,

There shouldn't be a problem doing the work first and then receiving the payment and if so then find someone else to do the job.

What a great tip. The point is a better iTrader means more trusted. Receiving the payment first can't guarantee that the buyer trusted.
