How to be a authority figure on linkedin within 2 weeks and get clients


This is something I have done and am doing on linkedin to become an authority figure quickly and therefore benefit from potential clients contacting me. Here's how it works:

Firstly make sure you have a fully filled out linkedin profile and it's as complete as possible. If you can get recommendations then get as many as you can on your profile.

Next go to 'groups' tab and search for groups you're interested in. There's group's for different professions, networking groups and organisation groups. Choose some groups you'd like to target.

Next we're going to browse these groups for any marketing questions posted. If you find such posts make a note of the problem. If you can't find at least 5 marketing related questions then post a question yourself and ask what peoples biggest marketing problems are. You should get a ton of replies.

Now using the questions we're going to create a short report called such as Plumbers - 5 biggest marketing questions answered. You can write the report in open office (which is free) and use the inbuilt pdf converter. I simply lists the question and then my solutions. Turn it into a pdf and you're ready to go.

Now you have some choices to make. You can post that you have a free report in some groups but some will not allow you to do this. If not you'll have to offer it to the 'top influencers of the week' and ask if they know anyone that would be interested in a copy.
If they do allow you to post in the group itself (check with the group owner) then you can simply post your headline and ask people to request a copy if they'd like one. This will go kind of viral if you've got a great report (my biggest success to date was getting asked for 260 copies of my report in 2 months and I still get 5/6 requests a week). It also means you stand a chance of being the top thread in that group for weeks and top influencer of the week!
Alternatively you can post the header of your report and direct interested people to an autoresponder. After they sign up they'll get the free report.
You can soft sell with your profile at the end of the report and say if you can help them further to contact you.


I've got as many as 5 high paying clients a month from this simple method.
