    You could also use JomSocial with Joomla, although it costs around $150 (not sure if you want a free solution or not).

    you all go on about jomsocial but completely forget to mention community builder which is bizarre since community builder has been out much longer than jomsocial and has a lot more plugins for it

    and since community builder is free it is definitely worth a look

    also take a look at comuna series of templates from templateplazza especially the latest one, cb have a facebook looking type of template also
