I came across this superb resource on Building a Computer when I was rummaging around looking for info on making myself a computer.

Even if you're not interested really in building a computer, you should read this. ;)

    SM,

You really should take a look at that article. It contains all kinds of simple tricks that make building a computer like pulling a rabbit out of a hat ... and cheap as chips too!

The only computers that most geeks build would be for high performance gaming with clear cases and cooling fans, those guys build those boxes like race car drivers build race cars.

The average guy like GEM mentioned is wasting time building his own unless he is trying to learn to become a computer tech guy

You're probably right, AC. But I would still suggest somebody forward a copy of that article to Hewlett-Packard-Compaq...

It can be a bit tough... just tell her to put lots of ketchup on it and ignore the little fluffy tail... she'll recover from the trauma eventually

    Second that!

It would be a completely waste of time for any other reason. If you want to build just to build one then go with a barebone machine with the MB, fans, PS, chasis, etc. already attached.

I just took a look at the article in more detail. Realizing it was a joke! A cardboard box computer. lol. Got me! That's what I get for posting before reading the article in question...just going with the flow! :)

I was wondering why people kept talking about a rabbit!

I do not have a rabbit but I have 2 guinea pigs, can I use them and will 2 count asone rabbit as they are slightly smaller. I did try it with one guinea pig but it did not work. It kept on coming up with errors and the guinea pig kept on squeaking. Its not as straight forward as it looks.

That's how MS did it. You need bunny pack two to run the guinea pigs. Try upgrading.

Are you insane?!?? You can't run a guinea pig with bunny pack 2!

You have to upgrade to bunny pack 3 with the guinea pig add-on, SP-3. Don't forget to upgrade your firewall before you connect to the net or you'll be vulnerable to the salamander and hamster viruses as soon as you connect.
