I think that the creation of a community (of interest, or of a broader plan - known as a social networking sites) is much more important and difficult task than attracting traffic. This is not just a loyal audience. This requires specific strategies and skills. Because the location of interesting articles, contests, social networking groups (on FB, TW), inviting your friends (100-1000 people), the transition of the advertisements - almost does not work!!! It works well for an already running project and brands that people are drawn to themselves.

Please write here your opinion and methods for creating an active community on the web 2.0 website.

Please write your suggestions in accordance with these terms:

    1. Unknown service or product (consisting of many elements of a Web 2.0\microblog)
    2. Designed for highly intelligent audience with higher education.
    3. Can interact with the audience only online.

    What I think:

    1. It is necessary to improve the service itself (web site). You must create mechanisms (if possible) for maximum convenience and efficiency of communication, because people need to 1. get the answer to their question 2. Present their ideas. The process of communication and content creation (this is not the same thing) should be bilateral. This will get more conversions (registrations on the web service) because there will be an element of "party"[IMG]

    2. Drive traffic to the site. If the process of engaging the audience in a "party" is clear, then method of driveing traffic for the user - generated content website - is not clear.

    What do you think?

And also what is the difference between online community building and offline? What is the same?

There is need a great strategies and knowledge about the topics and the stuff which you have to put in that community to attractive more and more attention from peoples to visit and join that community. By the way continue to your goals you can achieve that if you have talent, guts and strong strategy. Good luck....

Great post Web 2.0 is easily the best way to drive traffic now a days because you share instead of sell. It gives the customer to find the solution to their problem when they want. The difference between online and offline community building is the physical presence. When you go market in person it is easier to influence people by using facial expressions and emotions to persuade the customer that yu are the one to solve their problem.
