How to Create Top Headers

    Anyone can advise on how to create those big 768x XXX size of Header graphics on top of pages?

    What is the best software to use that is free? I am an amateur still learning how to do graphic designing. Any advice appreciated.

    One of the best free softwares is 'gimp'. at gimp.org

    there is also a free online software at splashup.com

    GIMP and inkscape are great, theres actually a plugin for GIMP that makes the interface like photoshops
    try them out, learn the basic functions
    examine established websites' headers, for their elements, style, and all that, and also try to match the header theme to your website theme.
    spend some time on it and it'll all work out weve all been there, goodluck ;)

    Best free I guess would be GIMP (although I haven't used it), but I still recommend Photoshop though.
