How to design eBook covers?

    My latest client wants me to take other eBooks and pretty much put his info over them.

    However I want them to look pretty sweet as they are paying me decent.

    What program can I use to design an eBook (or any book) cover?

    It'll be both cover, sides, back, and inside (front of book box opens, etc...)

    Any programs out there that take a 3d book box and I can wrap around my layered graphics?

    Photoshop is your best bet. Just take a 3D box and transform the content until it looks right. It's not too tough, but it may take a few tries to get it right. Sorry, I don't have a link right now, but there are some great tutorials on designing and ebook cover in photoshop if you google it.

    Photoshop and Illustrator will produce the best results. The trick is using Illustrator's 'map art' option.
    HERE is a tutorial I found. I personally don't like the end result, a little too distorted i think, but they do a great job of walking you through the steps.

    I highly recommend that you try Adobe Photoshop, they offer a free trial of the program.

    As mantero said coveractionpro.com has great action scripts for Adobe Photoshop. A good way to get ideas is to look at other ecovers to get inspiration. Do a search in Google for terms like "ecover graphics"


    As for the design that you just created, the shape isn't doing anything for me. It looks like a software box that was stretched out.

    I went and bought the darn eBook maker thing and didn't realize it only works in Photoshop. Now I'm out $100 smackers.

    I don't have Photoshop :-(

    Been using Paint Shop Pro 7 since 2000! LOL

    buy the actionscripts and do it in Photoshop..there always a free way to do it..but Coveractionpro is the best for me:)
