    Hi,

I want to begin learning graphic design for designing banners and logos.
I want to know which softwares I should use, and from which I should start?

Professional designers usually work with which softwares?

There are softwares such as: Corel Draw, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and etc... What about these?

I want to designing professional-looking designs and give best services for friend's sites. I want to learn for a period of time for full training.

    Thanks for the replies

Well, if you don't want to dish out money for PhotoShop, or have linux, try GIMP.

Its a open-source version of photoshop, and is quite good after you learn how to use it.

GIMP is not far as good as Photoshop is in my opinion. I had used it before I bought myself the cs2 version last year.

And yeah as the others said stick with Photoshop.

Illustrator is for people working on a large canvas to create posters t-shirts and stuff.

If you want to make a good logo and want to use it for professionals..try AI(Adobe Illustrator)

    I used Photoshop CS2 to make a logo..probably 2.0 design styles..that I like most:D

for banners there's many choice like Flash,Photoshop,Illustrator..

which is the best?just try out one and you know...what suit you most:D

For logo design I use Illustrator, but for all web designs I use Photoshop. One thing to remember when creating ads or banners for the web, it's a good idea to use the "save for web" option when saving the file. I've found that it greatly reduces the file size which will help your web page load faster.
