I would try link units embedded in your posts, the same way your pics are.

Every site and niche has his own solutions... you should simply try it. It looks then like a menu to choose from. Blend it in. For some areas it works perfectly. You should always try more ad formats till you got the perfetc mix and change it in a while. In some areas I prefer linkunits because of the behavior of the visitors.

Yep... this is one way.. if this doesnt work you could try them put them between posts too or change colors from links like your site text color... Just test this one first.

My guide to better CTR is very simple: make AdSense links look as all other links in the site.
    1) Underline site's links.
    2) Set appropriate color for AS links (dimmed light blue, not the default dark blue).
    3) Set advertiser's url color the same as ad text color or a bit lighter, so it isn't as visible as it is at the moment.

    And in this case:
    4) Put ads where readers look, i.e. between the posts. I think you're wasting all prescious ad boxes in the sidebar. Put at least one after first post. I'd start with putting 336x280 rectangle there.
