If your visitors find your content interesting - they will subscribe. Also make sure that it is easy for them to subscribe - also if they are not familiar with rss. You should e.g. allow rss subsription through e-mail. 25% of my subscribers subscribe via e-mail because they don't know anything about feedreaders etc.

First you need to move your blog to what I call a "real domain" it will give you more credivility but again as already mentioned, content is king in all matters.

You can read the many blogs dealing on how to draw traffic using other tactics, google it my friend.

Why dont you place a "What is RSS?" link right under or next to your Subscribe link. This way if your visitor doesn't know what RSS is you can familiarize him/her with it. Increasing your chance that he/she will subscribe

I understand that the content is so important. But from advertising point of view, saying that to close the case is not too helpful at all.

The fact is that there are thousands of quality sites that are not known to the general public. It can look that having good content on your web page has nothing to do with being visited/noticed by people. It's not that there is some sort of magic to attract people when quality content is placed.

I would recommend article directories, general SEO, and other advertising methods.

Try to get on digg, do viral stuff. Social sites can bring a lot of traffic if you do it right. If you have good content, that burst in traffic should translate to more subscribers.
