How to keep spammers away from my blog?

My blog is not very popular yet, has about 100 unique visitors per day. However, I often get spammers comments on my blog, which is annoying that I have to spend a lot of time to delete their spamming comments.
Could you tell me an easy way to keep spammers away from my blog?

Are you using WordPress? I don't use WordPress, but I was reading about Akismet recently, as it can be used on any site. They have a WordPress plugin which is free if you're making less than $500 per month from your blog. http://akismet.com/. Bear in mind I've never used it!

I'm sure there are other methods?

Use reCAPTCHA and if you have a Wordpress blog use the Akismet plugin. Also track your spammers, quite possible they are from the same country like China or something. You could choose to block the IP-range of that specific country (if you don't target them of course) so they don't have any access anymore.

 

Just turn on askimet. I get about 1 a week vs. 100 a day. Its built into WP.

If your blog is popular and has enough traffic, you can add "spam" button to give your visitors a possibility to detect spam and report about it. If any comment or article was reported several times, so it is a spam and may be removed from site automatically. I saw such systems in some blogs. Such systems also give a possibility to prevent stupid swear words in comments.

 

If it is wordpress then Akismet will work like a charm. Just blocks every spam comments without a problem.

akismet is what you need. Turn it on and forget about spam comments.

Otherwise just check the option for every commend to be held in moderation before going live.
Then once a week or so go check spam comments and delete all of them in a click ( select all ).
Buy really, there's no reason not to turn askismet on.

You can give comment reports to google if you blogger other wordpress already have protection to avoid spam comments.

 

Wordpress is good. We can use it at any time. To get rid of spam, you can use some word captcha or image captcha.

dont put automatic approved for comment, just put authentication so u can read each comment and approved suitable

 

otherwise you can mark the checkbox that requires an admin to always approve comments.

You just login once or twice a month and wipe all the spammy comments

use nofollow links (many will avoid those), captchas dont stop anyone, you can buy like 10000 captcha solves for 10 bucks. You can also remove the field for people to put their website and/or disable links inside posts.

 

In my blogs Amismet is doing the spam control, we never had even a single issue of spam for a period of one year. Go with it if you have wordpress

 

Ad the captcha wordpress plugin and voila the problem has been solved.
