whats the best way to kick start a Discussion Forum?
I heard that to ge them started it's difficult, but at a no.1 ranking for google its easy from then on in.

I have already been doing and still am doing:
    -Backlinks
    -SEO
    -Post Exchange

    Any other useful methods?

    Regards,

That's a good question. Maybe some cool contests would be not a bad idea.

What is the status of your discussion forum at the moment? If you have 100+ people signed up then a contest might be a good way to go.

If you just have a few signed up, then the old method of posting yourself under different names might be the way to go. This is generally frowned upon but, hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I started a forum in 2004 and it didn't really take off until about its 4th year. Sometimes it takes quite a while.

If you're planning to start a forum, the best thing is not to have "profit" in mind or else it will most likely going to fail..

the topic is the most important aspect of any discussion forum. trial and error the best way to get to the topic that interests the most number of people.

Well, although it might sound like "cheating" or whateva, but posting under different names regulary for about a month is generally the only way to kick start a forum. After all your only "kick starting" it.
One you get it going then you should start putting things like contests and thongs like that on the forum.

NEVER EVER, pay people to post. You might get say, 20 members this way, but it will make it look like your desperate and people with ignore the offer.

    Hope Ive helped!

Well the OP got banned but I'll post this anyway.

In order for forum to grow it have to have something unique.

Then post some interesting topics and create another fake account, then reply to yourself.
But you won't be able do this for long without going crazy...

But even still, that most likely won't do it. Forums are the hardest thing to start. So hard that it's almost guaranteed to be a failure unless you have a handful of people that you know will be working at it with you every day.

Didn't get banned for this guys, it was for bumping a topic when I shouldn't have done.

Either way thank you for the replies, I've recently reopened and it's kicking off well!
