How To Make A Website Banner

G'day All

I have absolutely no graphic design experience or ability, however I am looking to make a header for my website.

having no idea, is someone able to point me in the right direction, as to how i go about doing this? Do i need to purchase an expensive program, or are there programs available for free or online.

Any advice would be appreciated, as I dont even know the first place to start.

Hi Jake,

mostly the design is done in photoshop only. rest there are 100s of softwares.
You can get trial of that software from adobe.com.

Then for designing a banner you need to finalise the points that you are going to show in banner, according to those words only the images can be finalised, as which image needs to be used in which place

 

find some free fonts, install them and then create a new image in photoshop with the dimensions you want and mess around or if you dont have software you could download a trial, use a png if you have a background image or if the background is going to be white use a jpg, there are also some good tutorials that have been dugg on digg

 

If you don't want an expensive program you could always download GIMP. I'm sure you could find many tutorials on google that teach you how to make a header more targeted for what you want.

 

Maybe better way to hire designer for header creation? I think it's better than buying software, fonts seeking etc

 

why not just run a $5 competition on here

 

Download photoshop from a warez or torrent site,
check dafont.com and other font sites,
find a font that you like
run photoshop
explore the tools and menus
explore more
read some tutorials if you feel like it.
you should be done by now
if not read more tutorials.

A good option is to hire someone.
A better option is to hire me.
