Rewrite templates to reduce dynamic php to static html where it's possible, clean up css code and use some cashing plugin.

Use the WordPress Gzip Output plugin to speed it up a little bit right away but avoid any caching plugins as IE users won't be able to view your site most of the time. Also make sure you don't have too many plugins as that is usually the number one reason for a slow page-load time.

Use Wp Super Cache for fast load.
And try to make the site as simple as possible, don't use to much plugins, always update your wordpress(but backup all first:D)

I agree with Hewitt. If your doing to have alot of traffic to the site the gzip plugin will help greatly.

Wordpress is pretty fast as a CMS goes so if you are having slow load times it must be something basic. Either your graphics are not optimized for web, hosting is bad, or your plugins are messing you up.

I have not been able to get super cache to work right making the site not viewable in internet EXPLODER, I only use Firefox but there are still a lot of IE users out there! Has anyone else been able to make their site work well in IE with this plugin?

This question gets ask a lot of times over and over.

    1. Get a faster host
    2. Get a faster internet connection

How do you know your site is slow if you don't have the above?

gzip and caching should do the trick for the most part. Try making your images smaller in size too.

Well you could run some simple tests to check your load time:

Before going through all of the trouble of switching hosts or internet providers. Just a thought.

    1. Using WP-Supercache plugins
    2. Host all of your images on different host (flickr, screencast, etc for free solution, or amazon s3 for paid solution)
    3. Reduce your image size or type.
    4. Reduce your installed plugins.
    5. Optimize html, css, and php size.

There are much more techniques to be used, you should look at wordpress codex.

hah - never heard of that nickname before :D

If you're going to use Supercache, be aware of the blaring downfalls...all of your "popular posts" and similar plugins will stop working.
