How do you monetize a free site?

Monetize in ways other than adsense type ads and pay per action banners etc?

try selling links, go to the buy sell forum and sell your links. if you have a high pr then you can sell your links for a lot of money!

 

There are lots of cell phone/ringtone related affiliate programs.

 

Create an opt in ezine and sell affiliate links in there.

what about popunders ?

 

Start selling ringtones by wap or something like that. Buy content, or license from the other sources.

 

I think most users hate popups and pop unders...they have been widely overused...jmo though.

 

So far the best thing for me is the search engine submissions i have performed some two months back and getting visitors now.....happy at this, quitea few bucks every week!

 

The money potential will be limited with a site like this. Most ringtone affiliates are basically scammers (free, except for a $19.99 activation charge). You should try to just link up with a small affiliate program for an online store that sells cell phone accessories. Radioshack might have one.

 

I do not charge a single penny to signups.

I try to make some money to run the site from the ads on front page.
However nobody fills in the forms or joins to make commissions and I have quite popular things on page like lottery tickets for instance.

 

Yep I did this had a banner on site for about six months and over Christmas but not a sigle affiliate sale. IT was an american co I forget now t something they were called.

 

Get some AdSense or any other similar program on your website and signup for some affiliate programs.

Test clicked my ads six times
Appealed but you know Google
YPN not in USA

Other ppc tried but either scam or pay like pennies.
I am running out of options right?

 

Make an opt in list and sell them stuff later. why not sell them cell phones whereby if you have a list of say

3,000 and sell 10 phones at $100 profit each thats still $1,000.

You can take affiliation from Amazon, Commission Junction, Azoogleads. Depends on the subject of your site.

 

Tried phones for a while USA company sold nothing thats over Christmas season too But thanks advice also affiliate companies hmm won't really like free site I am thinking treading on a bit dodgy ground.

The mail opt in lists quite good but average usually response is one or two percent (from the old days of mail order stats) so you need like a few million to make good return however not near that number yet.
Waiting fo fair ads cpc to come out next few weeks so see how that goes otherwise might sell site as got other idea and project.
