When you're editing the post, click the HTML tab (upper right of the editing window). Click link (on the top bar of the editing window). Put in the address of the link. Click OK. Type in the text you want for the link.

    IOW, you type

    http://www.mysite.com/thispage.html

    in the link box, then

    this is my site

after you click OK. The post will have "this is my site" (no quotes) as a link to the address you typed in.

If on home page you are displaying latest post, then how would you able to display link within a post.... for this, you have to set a page for home page only.

Great tutorial. I am planning to use a static front page and you gave me th ehelp I needed.
One question though, is there a way I can get a part of the recent posts to appear on the static page? By using the optional exerptc.

A static page means a page that doesn't change unless you edit it and change it. A page that always has the latest post is a dynamic page, not a static page. You can't have a static page that's dynamic any more than you can have a wet thing that's dry. Because static and dynamic are opposites.

I think you using magazine type theme thats why your link not show in the homepage. Many magazine theme dont show link in the homepage but its can be show in the full pages. If you give your site url then its will be best to say about the problem.
