How to stop banding on gradients?

Anyone got any tips to stop banding in bg gradients (for websites)?

    I'm outputting my 2x400px gradient as PNG24.

Is there anything else I can do?

I'm going to assume you're on an LCD because CRT's don't really have this problem as much. Mainly because they are not as crips as most LCD's. Also the bit depth can make a difference. But since you're outputing for the web, you don't have the option of going 16bit.

    -Try adding some noise.
-Also, instead of using a layer style, try a gradient fill. I've sometimes resorted to that and goten a slightly smoother gradient.
-Also you can try adding a little blur to it.
-Try and reduce the difference between one color to the other or adding middle tones rather than letting photoshop blend the two end colors.
