How to use facebook to drive customers to my store?

I have just opened my webstore http://mountainherbs.net/
I sell plants, mainly herbplants. Now I have to drive traffic to my website. I try various things and one of them is to participate in facebook groups, which are related to herbs, gardening and such.
I do participate generally and do post links to blog entries. It is very slow. I see an uptick after every blog entry, but what else can I do to increase traffic? I do post always under my personal facebook site, I don't want to be too pushy and advertising like. Would you paricipate with your store page?
I am totally new to facebook, I never liked it and I still find it very clumpsy and akward.
BTW I use shopify and customer support and everything else is just fine.

There's your first problem... you are using a medium that you don't really know. I support users who have no idea about websites and it's a laborious process, far easier to work with someone who is comfortable with the medium - even if I disagree with their strategy or plans. So, you need to get onto facebook, work out which groups and pages you enjoy interacting with, get used to the difference between posting as yourself or posting as your page.

Then you need to get real about your traffic expectations. You'll have all this in your business plan already but it may be an opportune time to review the numbers and see if they are realistic.
    • how many people buy herb plants online every day in Australia
    • how many people buy herb plants from real world stores every day in Australia
    • what is the urgency of the purchase - is delayed gratification "a thing" when it comes to buying herbs or do people get struck by inspiration and want to do it right now?
    • how many competitors do you have
    • what are their strengths and weaknesses (brand awareness etc)
    • what are your strengths and weaknesses (brand awareness etc - you might be new to facebook, but you might be a well established brand)
Once you have that sorted you'll know what sort of traffic you should be expecting.

I'd be looking for the Aussie equivalents of this group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/nzvege/?fref=ts and I'd be looking for every question about herbs that people raise and answering them. I'd get known and trusted so that you'll be allowed to create a page in "Files" that gives info about growing herbs in Australia and links back to your site. You'll find that once you are trusted that people will start referring to your site as the place to go.

Be prepared to bail from groups or pages that are time wasters and create your own rules around identifying them.

FWIW the twitter and facebook links on your site go to shopify rather than to your pages.

    Oooh, here's another problem

By clicking the settings button I was able to set your twitter button to point to my twitter page. You should probably change that back and remove the settings button.

Thanks, I reapaired the issues. Yes I am on the equalent groups in Australia. The question is, do post under my personal page or under my company page? I actually know pretty well my customers, I do markets and talk a lot with people.
I wrote a post about a special herb, and there were a lot of replies, some quite interesting, but people all stay on facebook, no one replies on my blog itself.

I reply on facebook if I'm happy to be linked to what I've said. I'll reply on the blog if I want a degree of anonymity.

In your store page you can add the fb button. Next you can create a store page in fb promote it. Attach a cta into your page as shop now with the link redirects to your website. Share your website around fb as ads and posts. Hope it helps. Good luck

You can update your business page with industry news, relevant blogs, images, tutorials, videos, animations, motivational quotations. Then you can share your posts in relevant groups which are already present on Facebook, you can find them by searching and selecting "Group" section. This will increase your likes and post reach in addition it will increase active users on your business page.
