How would I build sites for other people?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by encom, Jun 15, 2010.

    Hi there,
I currently build websites for myself with ease, but have never built one for another person. How would I go about hosting and domain names, if I was building a site for a friend?

    Cheers for the help.

I still don't understand what you are asking?
You ask about the development or technical details to host your site?

If you ask about development, like designing and coding it, you can look at web development
If you are talking about hosting it, you can also look here

I would just like to know if there is a logical way you people organise clients sites. Do you have a hosting account with everyones sites on?? Or do you create hosting plans in their name etc...

What logic do you use when setting up client sites?

I use Xsitepro which is really easy, just point and click..I use godaddy to buy domains and host them..use a godaddy coupon to get a discount when you buy your domain..its easy to publish your site with Xsitepro..

You could get a resellers account offering both hosting and domain services

You could get Reseller Hosting and register the domains your self separately, in WHM you can have clients have their own account but unless they have experience it's not worth it, I'd just host them all on one shared account.

This depends on if your building the site and then maintaining it. If your doing all the building and maintaining then I would host it on my account. But, if all Im doing is building and they are maintaining the site then I would set up a hosting account in their name and give them the username and password so they can take control.

Get a resellers account or add it into your own hosting and include a slight fee to them. They should pay for the domain registration.

You can register a new hosting+domain under your client name.
After you upload client website, you just email them the login info.
