    They want people to buy their overpriced webhosting. I was unfortunate enough to use it for my first site. I used to love buying cheap domains through Yahoo, now they're restricting it to new customers only.

    Exactly and there most probably are some limits that will for example force you to use them for other services as well (just a guess though - don't know anything about this exact offer).

    If you are a registrar, domains are virtually free (I think they pay $0.50 per year per domain).

    Hmm, how come no places are offering them for $1 or $2? Wouldn't be making much but would give them a USP, onedollardomain.com :)

    Once you get popular just whack up the domain transfer prices

    Yeah wouldn't that be nice, but personally how can you complain about $7 domain? I remember when domains cost $70 each just to get started :( They of course also have advertising, servers, employees and other mics overhead costs.

    At $7 even $8 they are almost giving them away IMO :D
