Judge Amit Mehta's ruling firmly labels Google as a monopolist, citing its exclusive deals and anticompetitive practices that harm competition and inflate advertising prices. While this ruling may lead to significant changes in how Google operates, such as potentially easing restrictions on default search placements, the tech giant still asserts its search engine quality in response. As the case progresses into the remedy phase, the industry awaits the potential consequences for Google's dominance in the search market.

It is going to be interesting. Remedies could easily decrease Google's market share, which would be a blessing to all. But I do expect a fight.

Even if Bing or other search engine was set as default for devices, people would switch it to Google. People have strongly preferred Google for a long time now, and I think the only way that changes is when people straight up switch to using an AI search assistant. Google might even win with AI search, no one knows for sure yet. OpenAI is doing great, SearchGPT is interesting. Perplexity is interesting.

There will eventually be less reason to visit 90% of websites if an AI can give the answers we're looking for.

All those gurus who said to block AI from crawling your site screwed up. Especially if they had local companies block AI.

Social media marketing, advertising, and creating content for people is going to be the way. SEO is great, but it's not guaranteed, no matter what an "expert" claims. Pay attention to the news on zero click searches.
