Hello for those that do not know me I run an ISP/Web hosting and colocation facility as well as WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider). I am a member of a non-profit organization that works closely with WISP's and the FCC. I give talks twice a year at a Wireless Industry Convention around the country and have spoken in front of the FCC as well as other governmental agencies concerning the importance of wireless communincations. I have expertese in several areas of wireless, networking and tower construction/equipment deployment.

The organization I am a part of Part-15.org has been receiving numerous requests in support of New Orleans and surrounding areas of destruction by Hurricane Katrina.

In our continuing efforts to provide assistance during disasters and the reestablishment of communications in the effected areas, P15 will be organizing a PART-15.ORG Emergency Support Team to deploy to the region in support of the American Red Cross and other Federal, State and Local Agencies.

Donations of personnel, money, and equipment will be accepted. Additional details of P15’s relief efforts will be posted shortly to http://www.part-15.org/emergencyrelief/katrina.html

Presently discussions about this relief effort can be conducted by joining the P15 Emergency Relief discussion list. You can subscribe by visiting http://www.part-15.org/lists.htm

I hope you will join me and others in helping in any way you can. We hope to offer our help working with NOLA the Red Cross, or however the FCC deems necessary for us to assist. The intent is to help establish wireless communications for the purpose of using VoIP and other technologies to enable law enforcement, the miliatry and other agencies to be able to communicate in the areas of devestation.

Further, the following companies have additional support programs:

We are especially interested in assisting companies that are donating time/resources to help people in the region.

If you have immediate needs or are willing to help, please contact me ASAP.

    smartBridges

smartBridges is interested in helping out with the rebuilding efforts for the New Orleans disaster by providing some equipment. In the past at the Tsunami time this had proven to be good help. It quickly enabled the Red Cross and many other relief agencies linked up in the Aceh. Please ask any volunteers to get in touch with Kiran nd we can take it from there.

Feel free to email me (jer@mia.net) or PM me for more information. Your best bet though is to visit http://www.part-15.org/emergencyrelief/katrina.html on a regular basis to find out more, or to offer help. We could use equipment, supplies for those taking part in the effort, climbers, people familiar with wireless communications, etc. Full details again are available at: http://www.part-15.org/emergencyrelief/katrina.html

Thank you for your help and listening.

    1. AT&T or any other communication company together with TV-stations should offer some SMS live broadcast (subline in broadcasting) where people can send wishes, encouragements and money. Each SMS could be billed one $ or so.

It worked wonders during the tsunami relief activities in Asia.

    2. Most people need also soothing for their emotional shocks.

One thing that I can suggest is to have as many people leave the area and even move to another country for the time being. It's going to take a couple of years until a basic infrastructure is rebuilt in that area.

In meanwhile some victims could find jobs as teachers abroad (one or two year contract). They should be granted special privileges. There is a big demand in Asia for native english speakers/teachers (income varries from around $800.00 to 3,000.00/month).

The goverment together with their embassies have to strike a deal with some countries. It could and would and will benefit all involved.

Yes I know that this doesn't solve all problems, but at least hundreds or thousands could find hope and live again.
