I am in a big problem..

I went to shop to get my handset refilled, i.e., to get its recharge coupon. Since it was mobile shop I wanted to see new handset and by mistake I dropped a new handset.

I broke the front panel body, thankgod nothing happened to the mobile. Now I need to pay the dude appox. 2000Rs (indian rupees) and since I could not pay him he has kept my handset worth 10,000/- with him

Cant anyone help me till say abt 40-50 dollars? (even lower than that will do - il manage for the rest)

Edited: I agree to someone here. its stupid of me posting for such a less money and doing such stupid things. Anyways can anyone in india help me to find out the rate of the panel of :nokia N91? The original body according to the shop owner cost rs2000!

Mate shops are insured for such damages etc, I expect that to be true in India as well as most countries in the world.

They cannot charge you for damaging their equipment by accident in their store.

I dunno... here they even have notes at stores saying that if you damage something you will have to pay for it

If you break something the procedure is that they claim from their insurance and the insurers pursue you for the money.

When you refuse to pay they take legal action and you have to go to court.

What sort of company is going to take legal action for $50? Its just part of owning a shop - stuff gets broken.

Rs.2000/- is not a big amount. It is always better asking for help from known people to you. Don't say that you are alone in this world. Friends always there to help you. Approach your local friends...if you are really a good friend to them, Iam sure no friend will say "NO" to your request. I always try to help people to whom I know very well. If you can't get a help from your local friends Iam sure you are not going to get help from anyone in this world. Iam not saying Forum members are not helping...they are making donations if it is really a genuine one. IMHO Forums are not a place for making silly requests for asking financial help.

To be honest, I didn't want to waste a single bit of money that have coz I am in a hostel + studying. taking money from someone else n never paying it back would give me a feeling that I never broke a handset

but yes.. sometimes rude replies n to the point talks does put some sense. I will now payup and remember next time not to play around with things in showrooms.
