Paypal is threatening me with legal action and collections if I do not bring my account from a negative balance to either zero or positive!
They are pissed because my bank reversed the huge charges!
And they are pissed because they can not access my bank account or my credit card!!!
Somehow, I can not find anyone with paypal who can carry on a dialogue with me on this problem.
All I get is canned emails, each from a different person (or at least the name is different).

Now to find someone more stable, better customer service, etc than paypal.
May end up going with a credit card processor like 2co

Some information for more insight on this problem:

    http://news.com.com/Phishers+set+hidden+traps+on+eBay/2100-7349_3-6056687.html?tag=nefd.top

    http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/m03/i27/s04

Also i would like to mention Iowadawg is that you might have unknowingly be infected by a sophisticated trojan horse, one with rootkit capabilities and therefor virtually undetectable by AV software.

A full format of your hard drive would be a wise thing to do to prevent further ''mishaps''.

Another reason why not to rely solely on FREE products such as AVG. Even better forget about AVG entirely.

    Kaspersky
    Nod32
    F-Secure
Are the ones you should considder.

From what I have gathered from ebay, someone somehow put in an illegal auction and then put in tons of ebay user names as winners of the bid.
Then somehow (ebay and paypal aint talking on this point) got paypal to pay for the so-called auctions.

Anyways, paypal and I are back on track...they are happy with me, and I am somewhat happy with them.
Of course, I did get another bank account just for paypal (keeping only the very minimum in there).

Just now, paypal resolution has found in my favor and are sending the entire amount to my account.
Should be interesting since my bank reversed the charges!

I almost got scammed the same way. I received email with something like "Security Alert: Ebay requires you to log in and update your credit card information in order to unlock account (to be able to bid, sell, etc)." Well, it wasn't exactly like that but similar. And then there was a link to a website with name something like "ebay.account.blablabla.blablabla.scammersname.com" and layout was exactly like the real thing. I noticed that just in time before subimitting my info (cc#, password, login). ALWAYS CHECK DOMAIN NAME! Don't be lazy. If it's not ebay.com or paypal.com - close the browser. I immediately changed my password for ebay, and was checking bank transactions for over a week.

What happened to me, and quite a few others, was somebody ran auctions on ebay.
Then used ebay usernames as winners of those auctions.
It was nothing I did on my end, it was like automatic through ebay.
Now my passwords on ebay and paypal are so damn weird, that checking on a site, it would take 36 years of brute force to get my passwords.

Now if only stormpay would pay me the money they stole from me!

Glad to hear everything worked out to your benefits my man. :)
PayPal is notorious for favoring themselves and not the individual who got scammed, in most cases. Great thing to hear that your great losses were recovered, and mostly thanks to your own small town bank! What a bank! :D

I must find out more information regarding this bank. What is the name of the bank? How popular is it? Is it owned by a big company?

Oh, and about StormPay...nope you'll never get your money back from them! :p

Good luck with your future transactions and business. Be sure to download Ad Aware to make sure you don't have spyware, adware, or trojans that can monitor and send reports of your important usernames and passwords to prevent events like this from ever occuring again. Also make sure you are never lured into phishing emails that ask you to click a link to login...always go to the URL yourself if it is something as important as PayPal or eBay.

    :)

While often a good indication, it's no longer enough. There's an exploit in Internet Explorer where the URL in the address bar can be faked. More info:
    http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/04/06/1718210
    http://secunia.com/advisories/19521/

    and a test at
    http://secunia.com/Internet_Explorer_Address_Bar_Spoofing_Vulnerability_Test/

Never click to paypal or ebay through an email, especially when it comes to the "verify your account / your account has been compromised / etc" emails. Even if the address bar says "http://www.paypal.com", it may be false.

AFAIK, Firefox is not vulnerable to the above exploit. Yet another reason to try it if you haven't switched already.

I hope you know that when you buy these programs from ebay there are TONS of keyloggers in them alot of times .... when ever you buy programs you need to scan them before you unzip them .. sp far panda and trend is the only ones I trust for finding these type of keylogger.. they are called key_key keylogger
and another .... Iowa dawg run a scan from (url)housecall.trendmicro.com ... they catch keyloggers really good and its free

I urge you all to run this if you buy online ... norton didnt find anything and avg didnt nor a few others ... I had 52 keyloogers on my system and they all said I was clean - not house call .. they found them all .. once again I urge you to try it ... its totally free ...even cleans them off (url)housecall.trendmicro.com

    Is not some huge conglomerate.
Just the main bank and one branch.
    Locally owned, etc.
    And 2 blocks from here.

I don't have im of any kind.

Yeah, I wrote off stormpay a long time ago.

But everything turned out okay, so that is that.
