Filtered ads should be gone within 12 hours. I believe after that, if you're still seeing your filtered ads appear, you can email Google and let them know there's a problem. Also have you tried 'Section Targetting'?

It took my site about 48 hours to filter them out.

Depends if its a brand new site not even in google, google wont know much about your pages, and can take a while to get them relevant.

Usually takes 24hrs after adding adsense for the ads to straighten themselves out (if your adding adsense to an exisiting website)

It might take a couple of weeks or longer for Google to start displaying relevant ads. I think it has to send out it's bot a good few times before it starts understanding what exactly your site's about.

Only thing you can do is sit tight and maybe write some more articles targetted towards the keywords for your particular niche.

Section targetting takes a while to kick in. They even say so in their help pages. You should also check their help pages regarding using Competitive ad filter. If I recall correctly, they specify a time limit regarding how long you should expect it to take for the filter to kick in and once that time is exceeded they ask that you send them an email. So I would do that if I were you. I've never had to wait more than 12 hours for any new additions to the CA filter to kick in.
