i just put a new site up (still have many pages of content to put in). someone says that 468x60 screams "I'm an ad!!" and suffers from low CTR. can you guys share your experiences?

Yeah, it really blows at converting. Instead of 468, use the adlink in the same area instead.

checkout google's adsense optimization tips on their own site.

The best performers are the box shape ads, the 250x250 and the other wider ad unit.

Maybe it depends on the content or integration... over the past 30 days, my 468s rank 3rd in clicks and 2nd in CTR.

Coincidentally, today my banners have a higher CTR and clicks than the other 2 ads I use (text links on right, 125x125 on left).

Or maybe it's just luck :)
