They are really the same idea. I want to optimize them before I promote them.

Ad links look great. The links on the left are okay. I would try.. a 250 x 250 ads in your content area. You can have the ad on the left and text on the right.

Wow. Very clean, I like it.

maybe intergrate some ads inbetween the main thread and the rest of the posts.

I think instead of the 120 x 600, you can try the 336x280 with the content wrap round. Placing ads on the left side is good since that is considered as the hot spot for clicks. You should monitor your existing ads placement vs having 336x280 ads. I feel that using 336x280 will be good for your site.

Could you elaborate a bit. I am not sure what you would have me change.

I am also looking for somewhere new to put my Google search because I want to put some advertiser banners up at the top.

i guess u shall implement the 300 large rectangular near the top banner where the pencil is. It would convert very well.

my experience told me that the current banner: left skyscraper is good, so keep it there.

The adslink shall be placed near the top JUST below the other menu. (yours is too far from the menu, i feel)

I would say try one for about a month or so, then switch to the other side for the same amount of visitors and see which one performs best.

Testing and re-testing is really the best method to see what works. I tried some implementations that other people told me worked at first. Later I experimented around and found a set up that worked best for my site.

Unfortunately it really is all about trial and error.

Yes. It is all about trial and error. I see that you have made changes. For some sites, using different colors capture different CTR. So far based on my personal testing, Red color seems to attract more CTR. Of course some other colors like green and blue have good response. It is all dependent on the site itself. Normally, it is better to go with the theme or your overall color of the site.

It is doing well right now. I have to write content so I can worry about it much.

My forums are getting some traffic though....
