    Hello everyone!
My name is afia and I join this forum back in 2007. I worked as professional & freelance webdeveloper(PHP, MySQL) for few years than due to some personal reasons I had to quit programming and had to start teaching jobs on and off. Now I want to restart my career and do what I used to enjoy. But as long time has gone, I'm confuse where to start from. I have a general idea that perhaps a blog(wordpress- niche not sure about what I'm going to blog) or website to practice or showcase my skills to secure me a job?
and if a website? what kind of website? a classified site, a deal site, a forum, or job portal.
I'm really stuck and can't initiate. I need your help/suggestions.
    I need a job.
Sorry about the long story. :) Thanks in advance.

Well, you certainly should create a website to showcase your web design skills and promote these services to others. You might also consider easing back into the role with some freelance work from some of the freelance job sites like elance, odesk, fiverr, etc.

You should create an account on Freelancer.com and start searching for jobs there.
It will be hard to get projects at the beginning because you don`t have any ratings, but if you do like I did (I lowered my bids at a minimum so I could convince people to take my offers into consideration) you will eventually receive some work.
I remember that I had to work for $30 on a $200 project.

Well, if you worked a few years as a Web Developer, you should have a big portfolio.
Why not create a website about you, where you can showcase all of your past work?

I'd create a quirky hobby site related to a passion or expertise of yours. It might provide teaching tools that you've needed but not had access to while you were teaching, or provide people with a way of showcasing their crafts.
