I wanna create a website but i'm new to all this and i bought hosting and a domain and installed wordpress via fantastico but im stil clueless. i have been trying to find a theme for my website, (by the way, im an affiliate), and i cant find any free ones.

i'm starting off with no money here so i cant buy those expensive 27 dollar affilate themes for only one theme. and i have no idea how to customize themes for myself. i have been trying to learn basic html but its still not easy to take a normal wordpress theme and transform it to be an affilate theme. so i decided to try to find some other way to make my affiliate website.

:confused:can anybody give me a suggestion as to what kind of web site building software would be the best to use? or what to do about my wordpress situation? im desperate for help!!!! please help me!!!!!

The cool thing about wordpress is, in any blog format (most of them), you can have pages. And this can double-up as a website.

Or, you can find loads of free website templates and just modify them. Heck, if you have an easy site that you'd like to do with content, I'll do it free of charge for you :)

I'm in a charitable mood today.

You can create any type of website with Wordpress and custom design it any way you like. There are many free themes and paid themes to choose from as well. Just remember to add the 3 best plugins for it. Askimet, All in one SEO, and Google Sitemap generator.

    Check out csv2post dot com

Front page has ajax slider, specially arranged posts at the bottom but in terms of pages and code, it's not a blog. Sure a lot of the rest of the site is very blog like but doesnt need to be.

Think of it this way. You have your database of content and wordpress is a big tool to access it then display it on your pages, doesnt need to be wordpress your looking at really. Does that make sense lol

Yeah, it is growing more common. I have a few websites built with WP. The great thing is that you can add blog posts as your pages with a static page for your homepage. Then you can use your RSS and Atom feeds to build more links and drive more traffic. WP websites are loved by Google because they're really blogs with a static front page.

As every one has indicated you can use WP as a normal website, what they do not tell you is that you need to modify the theme so that visitors do not see post comments on pages and only post comments on posts which allow comments(it the visitor should not see "comments are closed")

PM if you are still interested

    Blogs are websites.

The only disadvantage is it's not as easy to manipulate posts (post order) as your "site" grows. If you are planning on a site that is several hundred pages and you don't want your posts buried over time then go with Joomla.
