    Your niche should be something that you are interested in at least or, even better, have a passion for. Doing something for the sake of doing something is not the best idea.

    As long as it ofers something free/quality
    And seo/advertising is MAXIMUM ... you need skills/money for this

    I would say video sites will get good traffic, alternatively you could look into the internet marketing niche and offer ebooks.

    People are looking for two things;

    1. Unique sites.
    2. Sites that give something they want for free.

    Movie streaming websites and things like that usually do quite well, and rake in a decent amount of visitors. But it also makes your server costs high as you will be using quite a lot of bandwidth.

    Choose something that you knew a lot about it or you are most interested with in real life. In this way it will be more easier for you to start and advertising it will be very natural since you know best about it.

    I would have to agree with "Steve" on this. Starting something for the sake of doing something in the hopes of future profits is not recommend. Most of those types of company's are destined to fail. If you have no interest in something how could you possibly invest 100% of your time and energy into it.
