    Hello Guys,

I am a new member in this community so i would like to say a big hello first.

I have been an employee with an online travel agency (selling flight tickets) for around 6 months now and I am member of the analytics team of the business.
One of our main objectives is to create professional reporting that will help our teams (colleagues) understand performance of the business, identify potential risks/performance issues and take the necessary business actions.

When i joined the company the main reports were on Excel and were mainly showing number on transactions the previous day or YTD (broken down by certain dimensions e.g. affiliate, Origin Country, Flight Type, website etc) plus total profit and a few other metrics.

They want the company to achieve a certain growth this year and they only look at YTD TY vs YTD last year and based on that they check the performance.

I proposed to the company a new reporting that will look into WTD, LW, L2W, L7D vs Same period last year so as to check performance of the company on a daily basis but they were very reluctant to accept this kind of report(s). In other words year on year reporting doesnt exist anywhere in our business. I believe this is very wrong and it something that needs to be done on a daily basis so as to check performance and take the necessary actions.

I would like to ask you, if you work on similar companies (e.g. travel) what kind of reporting do you mainly use? Do you use point of time dimensions (TY vs LY and on what level WTD, LW, L4w) to check performance and on which metrics? What other dimensions do you use and how do you check them to identify potential risks or performance issues?

I really want to communicate point of time reporting to the business but i dont know how to do that so as to make them understand better the necessity of it.

Thanks a lot for your help
