This video was a joke and the thread starter is a moron for taking it seriously.

I'm not doing well at being the kindler and gentler Will, but sometimes you just have to be clear about the truth.

At the last few seconds of the video, I thought I saw the words "North Korea" put at where Australia would be. That explains their putting the flags there.

I also assume that they also had a different map with "France" there.

Without wanting to cause offence to anyone on this board. I'm sorry but I personally feel that there are a hell of a lot of completely ignorant Americans in the world.

Some Americans seem to see things as very much black and white.
Most Americans have got no clue when it comes to world politics (this could be debated for a long time indeed)
Most Americans are destroying our planet through inefficient use of the worlds natural resources. (per head they use 4 times as much resources as the Japanese)
Related to this point they all seem to want to drive huge cars (why?)
    Americans are un-naturally obese
There seems to be more racism in America than in any other country (it used to be against black people but now it is against muslim [lets not debate this is this thread though!!])
Most US cits do not have a passport. They are less well travelled than other nations.

However, I'm an intelligent guy and realise that this isn't all americans, but it does seem to be a general trend.

Don't get me wrong! I've only ever met a very few americans and they were all terrific guys (and gals!). Maybe its the way you guys are portrayed by our media. However I believe its probably the fact you've got a prat as your president.

I'm positive that I'll get a couple of red reps from people on this board, but I bet they wont be the guys that can sit down and prepare a decent, thought out response (catch my drift?)

Once again, this is nothing personal but I think you guys have got a hell of a lot of issues at the moment.

    Peace out

When it comes to drive and ingenuity I believe America is second to none. But the public education system is GAWD-AWFUL. Worse than many third world countries. Time to change it around.

If that was your goal, you failed spectacularly.

Luckily, how you "feel" does not impact reality.

Do you mean like the way you did when you put this godawful post together?

Luckily, our knowledge of world politics has put us at the top of the ladder of world politics.

Those who are underneath us get a bit of a different view.

We use what we can afford.

And why can we afford to live such affluent lifestyles? Because we're smart and we work hard.

If Americans were as dumb as you "feel" we are, we would be as dirt poor as most of the people on the planet whom you consider "smart."

Because we can. Because we like to and we can afford to do what we like.

Is that jealousy I hear there?

Hold on, we'll all go run around in circles to try to make a bunch of whiny bastards feel better about us.

Wait, no we won't. We really don't care if you find us pretty or not.

You still pay your money to watch us fat-assed Americans in pretty much every movie we make.

If being anti-Muslim is "racism", then so is the visciously hateful anti-American rant you just posted.

Yes, because when you live in America -- you don't need to go anywhere else. We've got everything. We're not some tiny little island the size of one of our smaller states.

Your first point seems to be contradicted by the rest of your post. Your second point causes me to wonder where on Earth you get the idea that you have the sort of data required to identify a "general trend."

OH MY... you actually felt it necessary to type out this entire hateful rant -- only to admit inside your own rant that you haven't the faintest fucking clue what you are talking about?

Maybe! And maybe, as you admittedly don't have a fucking clue about Americans, you shouldn't believe everything you see on your little tele.

He's our President. We voted for him. We like him. We don't give a fuck what you think of him. You can't even vote in our elections.

You deserve a stack of red rep for your ill thought-out rant.

Ah, yet another mindless attempt to insult Americans. You'll not get far attempting to paint us as stupid after the post you just made.

You have one hell of a way not to be personal.

And, for the record, we don't give a damn what you think.

Climb to the top of this ladder and we'll talk.

No. No peace. Your message did not say "peace." Your message was all about everything but peace. Ending a hostile message with "Peace out" is nothing but one final mindless insult.

    1. Does the video proove anything?
    2. How can they make such video?

    1. No!

    2. Why not ask their friends to act 'ignorant americans'? Why not collect a big number of interviews and pick the most dumb answers?

Says at the bottom of your post that you "don't care what we think". Contradiction on your first point, good going.

How you "feel" drives people' behaviour. If enough people "feel" a certain way then things in the world will change and reality does change.

It can be quite difficult in a forum post to put over your thoughts/values and beliefs without sounding blunt. I can relate to all of the arguements in your posts and I thought about each one carefully before responding.

A sure sign of ignorance. Why the hell do you guys think that you are at the top of the ladder of world politics. (Having more nuclear warheads/money to spend on weaponry does not constitute making shrewd political judgments.)

Another obviously ignorant comment from an American who believes that Americans are "above" other nations

Or what you steal from other nations when you pillage their countries.

I can't disagree with you when you say you work hard. So do the Japanese, so do the Germans and so do us Brits.

Is it that sensible to "use what you can afford"? Maybe with hindsight in 20 years time you will have changed your opinion on this matter. Just because you can afford to use so much energy does not suggest it is a good idea to do so.

You accused me of using emotive language, then you do the same. American admin has the same dual standards policy on nuclear missiles.

And exactly who did I say I thought was smart?

I don't believe that just because you have more money than another nation you have the right to trample over them. You have more money so you can afford to fuck up the atmosphere with car exhausts?

You accused me of using emotive language, then you do the same. American admin has the same dual standards policy on nuclear missiles.

Sorry I don't think you understood what I was saying. I wasn't refering to your "prettiness", but to your levels of education.

Well done, you do make good movies.

are you anti-muslim? if so, why?

Stay out of world politics then.

    Don't be so damn sensitive.

If you don't give a damn what we think, that would justify the claim that "americans are ignorant" in itself.

    See first point

Although I can't agree with your politics I do appreciate your thought out reply.

Feel free to comment on anything I have said

Notting, there are ignorant people in every countries. I don't see why you are trying to segregate Americans from any other country's people.

If there is man, there will be ignorance. It's a normal phenomenon in nature and will continue to occur until life as we know it dies..

Your statement you know a lot of ignorant Americans...you fail to see that you know of many ignorant people, in general: whether that be your area, America, and/or other countries.

Just look at Nigeria, for example - home of internet fraud. Them people are ignorant, and you know it...but yet you are pointing out one country here and act like we are the cause of ignorance or problems that are occuring in the world.

We play one small part my friend. ;)

Ignorant Americans are simply more annoying because America is a devloped country and according to Will.spencer is a rich country that should be able to afford a decent education for kids. For the record I get equally pissed off by ignorant Britains, French, Germans etc (of which there are many).

    Can't agree more.

What?! That is one hell of a misquote. If you look again what I actually said was:

    Not really the same!!

Unfortunately so, but lets all make our small parts positive and we can make a change.

....and as for the sodding Nigerians, Check out:

Thanks for the response Notting. :D
It is true that America's kids and people in general should be well-educated as we are a "rich" country, but this doesn't mean us as the people are. My family is ranked in the lower-middle class of the United States and affording college for my brother is difficult for all of us, including myself! I am helping him pay for it.

I don't know about every other Americans family but my family does not go on vacations because we simply cannot afford it. :)

You may see us as rich because of perhaps higher work wages, but in reality when there are higher wages there are higher prices in stuff you have to buy...prices go up for everything once wage goes up a little bit.

America as a whole is pretty deep into debt, too, from natural disasters such as Hurricane Rita and Katrina, to our current "battles" with Iraq. It's a difficult situation, but education is becoming harder and harder to afford.

I know in third world countries, universities only cost about $600-$2000, and some are even free. We have community colleges, yes, but they will not take you anywhere. A decent education these days in the US will cost you about $50,000-$150,000...in that meantime you will have to work and try to maintain a social life.

It is just overall difficult to have a high education. I hope you are going to be able to understand me correctly, but many Americans are not upper class folks who can afford to go to college. :)

Heh, I wouldn't consider the US to be #1 at world politics due to your knowledge. You're only on the ladder because you have money and weapons, there's NO other reason anyone would listen to you otherwise, it hasn't got anything to do with the 'knowledge' of the US. Also, in 10 years time, China will replace you on the basis of world politics, aswell as many other 'superpower' traits.

But that was a stupid video. You don't know how long the guy was finding these dumb people for or how many takes they did. Also, I think many people couldn't find Iran/Iraq on an unlabeled map, but to think France is in the place of Australia whilst speaking to an Australian guy makes me think they were actors.

I find this whole topic quite amusing and ironic.

To come on to an American forum, started by an American, to tell us that Americans are ignorant. (what no great forum in your country? You need to come to an American based forum?)

I guess to some that would make sense . . .

. . . about as much sense as an American protesting in front of the Louvre that the French are artistically ignorant.

I think the ignoranant one is quite obvious.

Have seen something similar before, can only assume they just selected a few highlights of people with a really poor knowledge of geography. If you are American and viewing this thread, I wouldn't treat it seriously... it's more of a way for people to vent their built up hatred/frustration with George Bush rather than America in general... once he steps down it should gradually get back to what it was like in the late 90s.
