I'm Looking To Switch To An ISP Company Which Doesn't Suck. Suggestions?

It happened again last night. I was online, about to make a post here at DP, when my damn internet connection failed. I tried restarting my DSL modem, but it still didn't work.

I called SBC(I mean ATT), and after going through the automated system I finally managed to get a guy who put me on hold for so long I hung up. I called back again, and finally got some guy in India. He tells me there is an "outage."

I ask him how long its going to take to get back online. He tells me 4 hours. When I start yelling, he places me on hold, comes back, and magically, the problem is solved, and I can get back online! This is about an hour later.

Here is the question. Does anybody here know of a high speed DSL or Cable internet service other than ATT which has good service? Please don't post companies that require one year contracts, or $100 set up fees. If you don't know of a company, I understand, because most have this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use SBC at my house and my office uses business class Time Warner. The SBC home is faster and more consistent than Time Warner, so you should probably steer clear of them. I also used to use Adelphia when I was up in Colorado last year and they were worse than any I have ever seen.

I'm located in the state of Nevada. I haven't heard any bad things about Earthlink. I'm going to check out their prices.
