Could you please let me know if the ads (they're on top w/ a photograph beside it) are allowed to have photographs/images beside them? (I've seen a lot like this)

Please let me know if this violates TOS. Thanks :)

Of course it violates their TOS, images are not allowed, period. You're simply asking for a banning.

I think you should be ok with those images (since they are not naked or in bathing suits), it is the patterns that look that arrows that you should be worried about.

I know that this example _is_ allowed:

Content example with images clearly bordered.

As long as the image is not one pixel away, or touching the adsense block, and there is either a border around the image OR a line separating the image and the adsense block, then it's OK. Google are not going to ban you for such a thing as you are in fact increasing their revenue by putting their ads on your site. If they don't like it, then they will email you first and tell you.

Second point, you can always email google adsense, give them the URL and ask them if the layout is OK. If they say no problem, then, um, no problem. :)
