Internet Stalkers

Have any of you ever experienced this? One person who follows you around? Reading all your posts, making vague comments about you?

Is there anything that you can do to fight back? If you have their IP, and know it's them? What if they're trashing your business and stolen information about you?

 

You have to contact your local authorities and give them any and all information you have and then go from there. I am dealing with a similar situation myself.

Does yours tell you they can't wait for you to die and how it will be the best day of their life and that they will dance the day you die, blah blah blah??

Oh the joys of the internet and all the creepy bastards it attracts...cowards behind keyboards.

 

Would this be a 911 call?

I've phoned their ISP and filed a report today, because now I'm fully sure it's them. I really do hope something happens, because this person makes me afraid for my safety. They have my home address.

The thing is that they're so good at lying...sometimes I even believe them.

 

No, 911 is for emergencies only, get the number for your local authorities or even better go in person with printed out copies of everything you have, anything at all.

The ISP won't do anything, I learned this the hard way, which is why you contact your local authorities first and then they contact the ISP, etc.

Not sure what they will do without threats involved but it's worth a shot.

Yes, I am helping someone out with a similar situation. As for my own, I didn't want the cops involved so I just blocked them from my site and removed all my personal info from my site and just made it a wordpress skins site. I didn't have much choice.

In the other case, the cops here in Canada are taking the threat very serious even though the stalker is in America.

If I remove my htaccess (using it to block their IP) the person is still there all day coming to my site, very pathetic.

 

Yeah, until today when I matched it up with 2 other sources, I hadn't fully removed them from my server. So they're banned account kept showing up as well....3 different registrations on *this* incarnation of the board.. I dont even know how many there were previously. But they're IP keeps changing...it just makes me feel really uncomfortable. Apparently the same thing happened to them so I have no idea why they would do this to someone else.

 

It might be a good idea to make your domain private. Domain info gives out all of your information.

they got my address before I had actually registered a domain name, and was running the site off my windows xp box and was scrounging up money to buy a host

it's just too much really. initially, whatever, just a person that didn't like me. but it kept coming and coming, even after they said they would stop...it's been going on since August. I already posted my photo to prove to them that I was really who I was (At the time a 17 year old)......anyways, it just sounds like abuse to me, because I had never heard of them until they showed up registered with my email address.

They get fixated on one person, just be careful. I had a retired cop review my case for me and help me to narrow down the possiblities of who it could be and why they were doing it.

 

Well...since they're not stopping, I fillled out one of the forms. We'll see what happens.

 

Oh my god, girls! That's really freaky. I didn't even know this sort of thing went on. *head in the clouds* I had better start being nice to people on the net!
