Is Facebook already dying?

Discussion in 'Social Networks' started by J-Solutions, Jul 27, 2011.

    Hello,
I recently made facebook, I was last one of my friends.
But, I think that facebook is already dying, like it isn't growing up anymore.

How many years will it take that there is not much traffic anymore in facebook?
I think five years and nobody uses facebook anymore. It's just my opinion.

Facebook isn't dying but I don't think it'll be growing as much as it had been. It has already reached most of the people who wanted to get on it. The growth will slow down but it is going down anytime soon.
Google+ is the social networking to watch in terms of growth.

Facebook is experiencing growing pains, partially due to their lacking ability to make sound decisions where it concerns their user base. Of course, this is something that any social network goes through, but in varying degrees of intensity. With the launch of Google+, and Facebook's seemingly outright disregard for users' privacy, it may very well be taking a turn for the worse.

And, I'm not saying that Facebook is dying, but it could happen. Even if it does, though, it won't become a realization for a while.

can you tell me how you made Facebook? i think Zukherberg will be astonished after seeing this post.

buddy facrbook is increasing day by day. it is just your thought. you do not have any idea how much people everyday joining facebook. people are investing money in facebook for earning. so now you think investors do not like to see their money is wasting.

I dont think Facebook will go anywhere within the next 5 years. however, it is at some point likely to grow less popular and slowly fade out much like MySpace - probably, when the average user becomes more disillusioned with having hundreds of "friends" which dont mean anything. Google+ might be a bit of a competitor but personally I dont think it will threaten Facebook as of now.

So far Facebook has not incorporated anything new with their social media platform, this could be a signal that it is dying or it may also mean that they are preparing for something bigger.

Facebook is really big, it has a ton of features. But, it is also turning into the worst case of complexity overload the web has seen in years. There are so many inconsistencies that it is hard to believe - or even to keep track of. To give you a few examples. We got profiles, groups, pages, and now also community pages - who all looks rather similar, but works quite differently. We got inconsistencies in likes and comments. If you comment on a page, you do so as “the page,” but if you like it, you do so as “you as a person.” We are notified when someone post a comment on our profiles, but not on our pages. If you post one picture, the comments for the accompanying wall post are linked to the picture. But, if you post two images, the wall post comments are linked to the album. And then it gets really cumbersome to keep track of what people say. The number of privacy settings is just staggering. When I, a few days ago, had to help a family member setup her Facebook profile, I just showed her the one profile privacy settings (with 12 options), choosing not to mention the 16 other places where there are even more settings to adjust.
