Is homepage the most important page for adsense ads?

My homepage adsense ads get really seldom clicked. As my homepage gets more and more visited compared to other pages, I'm thinking of re-design it to be more adsense efficient.
Is homepage ads really very important for a site?

it is quite important. However, for me 95% of my traffic is to sub-pages, as that's where people come from search engines

Many don't put ads on their home page, for fear it might turn off visitors.

Most likely the best place to put ads is the place where visitors exit from the page. I think awstat can tell us which page is the exit page.

    Hope that helps

Actually, I think the best place is in the header of the website, this way it is displayed on every page. I think depending on what your site offers, depicts whether homepage links are more beneficial or not.

I disagree. For best results the ads should be embedded in the content

That is, if the site has a lot of content...if it has little content then I think the ads can just overpower the little content that is available. But certain sites with large blocks of text, this is a great placement.
