Is it OK to buy Twitter followers or Facebook friends?

    Hi,

I saw someone buying twitter followers a while ago. Suppose someone buys Twitters followers or Facebook friends. What are the pros and cons of this? For example, does this affect the ranking of a website?

    Regards,

    FY

Could you list a few examples of usefulness?
For example, suppose I'd buy 10.000 followers. What can I expect from them? Are they genuinely following me or are they zombie followers? Would they retweet?
Suppose if they are zombie followers, would this have any pros or cons? Excuse me for all these questions but I'm just curious.

    Thanks,

    FY

There's always the risk of getting your account banned. I got a free sample of Facebook fans a while back, and soon got complaints from people who said they never signed up for my page. So apparently there's a way to force members to like your page. I'm not sure if the same thing happens with Twitter, or if everyone uses these tactics. But this kind of thing is surely against the TOS.

It will not affect your website ranking in search engines.
    Pros:
More followers means more trust and traffic.
    You can get more retweets.
    Cons:
generally bought followers unfollow you after some time.
    Low quality followers.

So it's your choice, that you want loyal fan following which love your tweets or inactive followers who even don't care who you are.

    Its a tricky question..

See the thing is,if you don't mind paying and the friends don't mind being paid..WHY not right?Well..for marketing purposes those friends and followers will be of very little use to you me thinks. Unless off course you merely use them as social proof of your popularity for other followers who may see you as an authority?

I would agree, that doesn't sound like it's working within the guidelines. Our site, which provides FB fans does it in an organic way and I have never heard of anyone being forced to like a page, nor did I know it was possible.

it can increase your site's traffic bro. if you buy some twitter followers or facebook friends of real people then you can advertise your product and services among them. thus it promises to give you generate traffic and thus to generate lead in market.

In my opinion it's a waste of both money and time. Facebook and Twitter traffic can be a great traffic source (I get great traffic from there) but they have to be NATURAL. Lots of the traffic you pay for is just robots - no value

    my 2 cents

It's actually not worth it since the one following you is not interested on your product or service. Better get a followers inline to your preferred audience.

I agree more followers/FB friends more traffic to you website. But at first you have to make sure the followers/FB friends which you bought are real people, so that after sent lots of posts can attract ppl to your website and get high traffic.

You can buy them but you won't make any money unless the accounts are active and people actually see your tweets.

Its unlikely to be helpful unless you have a really professional operation.

FWIW you can't buy them at digitalpoint.

Truth is, you can buy friends and followers but there are no guarantee that these are real people. It is easy to create many accounts and you can do this on your own too. So why buy if you alone can do it?

It could help in a short time because they might unfollow you in just one click (as long as your budget can handle).. While "natural followers" are the better if you want a longer and more successfu twitter promotion
