Is it possible to grow sites setup using common clone script into big million$ sites?

    Say you start a site using some clone script (like Yahoo Answers clone). Is it possible to grow such a site into huge big million $$ site without a full time coder/ programmer in your team and without doing much modifications? :)
    Like if need modifications/ coding done, you hire some outside coders to do it.
    Why do big sites like Twitter have 450 staff in your team? Is it cos they need lots of full time coders/ programmers? :)

    Well theoretically I suppose you could grow exponentially. The more money the site makes, the more you can spend improving it, which would lead to more money being made, which would lead to better improvements, and so on. Start out with a clone script and eventually be something entirely different.
