Is it possible to have different businesses with one LLC?

What happens if you want to have different types of stores / services. Maybe one is software, one is jewerly, etc. Does one LLC cover this? Is there a limit if it does?

    Thanks in advance.

I would think you could establish a separate DBA for each industry. The main LLC exists on the back end, while customers see the different business names which are legally tied to the LLC.

There is no limit to the number of businesses you can have under an LLC. If any grow to a substantial size you may want to look at spinning them off to their own LLC for the purpose of liability protection.

You can have multiple businesses within an LLC, but their are disclosure requirements that vary by state (each state has it's own LLC formation laws).

Good point rhino. Remember that LLC's are not recognized nor regulated by the federal gov. You should really check with a lawyer for a finite definition of what you can and cannot do.

I've got an LLC as a "parent company" to all my various web ventures that aren't substantial. In other words, I've got one LLC for most of my sites but a separate one for my ecommerce site.

As for having multiple "businesses" under one LLC it's quite possible. You just need to be able to prove those businesses are in fact under your LLC. So for instance if you have websites, make sure they are listed as being owned by your LLC.

On all of your websites, just put in on the bottom "Owned and Operated by ...blahblah LLC", it's what I do.
