Is Pinterest marketing just a bunch of hype?

Do you have any references for this?

The closest reference to that claim that I was able to find is that Pinterest beats Twitter, Bing and StumbleUpon. (mediabistro.com /alltwitter/pinterest-twitter-traffic-june_b25180) But the caveat at the end of that article is interesting:

"Bottom line: unless you have a lot of data, and it’s consistent over time, it’s always wise to take these fleeting social statistics with a very hefty pinch."

In other words, be careful about too much hype. :p

You should give it try because Pinterest has a lot of potential. You can start using it as an ordinary user - pinning and enjoying the beautiful photos. And then if you like it, you can create boards related to your business.

From what I've seen, users of Pinterest fill a fairly particular niche (much more specific than Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks), so depending on your product/market you may not gain much from targeting users there.

I am not sure, how long Pinterest can survive. A lot of social networking site are coming but soon lose the interest of user. Still found no reason to invest time for marketing on pinterest.

I'm creating a Pinterest campaign later today. Do I need to worry about image copyrights? If so, I might need a couple of free resources. Anyway, I'll use what I can until then but I'm anxious to see the results. Wish me luck!

Only if you're planning to steal images.

Since this is a marketing campaign, you should factor in that if you're using images obviously belonging to somebody else it will take your credibility down a few notches which will harm your campaign.
