Is Social Promotion Better Than SEO?

I just realized, I've been working for hours a day to try to compete for page one of Google for social promotion, when it only has 1,000 exact match searches a month worldwide.

That's thirty three searches a day, and even if I was first on the first page, I wouldn't get all of those clicks.

I got two hundred and sixty unique views today on my site, most of which I got from Twitter. Am I just wasting my time doing SEO for my site, or should I keep making back links, and increasing my Twitter followers as well?

I know the answer, probably both SEO and social promotion, but when one seems to work so much better than the other, why shouldn't I focus on the method that works?

 

SEO includes using social networks to promote your site. There are also other techniques that can be used promote sites. You can't compare the both.

 

Yes.you can not compare.You can not depend completely on social websites.you get instant traffic only with them.Do some SEO regularly whatever time you want to spend on it.

 

i have recently saw a statics in this forum that most people in web now spend their time on facebook and twitter. so it is good to promote your newly created site there. but do not forget the basic seo strategies. basic seo's are the foundation of your site's visibility. so you should keep your eyes open for new seo tactics.

 

Basic SEO is always better, social marketing is only valid for a few days. Just move a few days back, everyone used to be on orkut and hi5 and now no one cares about. Same can happen with facebook and twitter, maybe google+ will top over it or any other brand will but social media marketing is not a sutainable way of marketing but SEO is.

 

True, but what should I do next then? I've already written almost fifty unique articles as back links to my home page. Should I make back links to all the other pages as well? Im almost on the first page for get Facebook page likes. Any good tips to efficiently make quality back links?

Social networks are a part of the SEO, but a lot of people ignore it as it needs more time. Spend some time on it and you will see the results

Although some Internet marketers want to exclude facebook. I didn't get much traffic from there. But I get them from twitter and Google

In my opinion, both are essential. Social Promotion is a part of SEO. Especially traffic boosts up in social promotion, however to achieve SERP SEO is important.

 

SEO & SMO are two different things, they are quite similar but different in some aspects. Facebook and twitter are the modes through which traffic on the site increase at a rapid way.

So, I agree with you and people should take use of SMO.

SEO I think is better. When you get high on the organic search results you don't have to put as much time into it and you can focus more on social media.
