Is there really any REAL dropshippers?

Is there really any REAL dropshippers? I search the internet and just find crap. Junk and spam. Do any of you currently or have used to drop ship items? Can someone point me in the right direction? :D

    Hi Libertygone

I have pondered on a dropshipping company for about the past year but still have not made up my mind to do it the company is dvddropship they sell cheap dvds and will drop ship to all your customers. i have not went with them at the moment just sheerly because of my time constraints. I hope this is the sort of thing you are looking for . Unfortunately I cannot think of any other companies unless it i for hardware re-selling i know quite a few in the uk here that would dropship.

    Thanks

    Pete

I have used some drop shippers and it worked out great.
I did not use a 1 for all site that drop shipped everything.
I searched for what type of products I wanted to sell and browsed through many many sites to see which ones drop shipped and eventually I found some that did and signed up easily. Some of them I had to ask if they offer that service, while others mentioned it on their site.

No one should let loose with a list of good drop shippers - it's a form of competitive advantage.

I tell all my clients that if you find a good drop shipper, you keep it to yourself for fear of a competitor or a new entrant into their niche exploiting the information.

When selecting a drop shipper, approach it like any other business partnership - do your research!

Ask to have samples sent. Who do they use as a courier? Can you get someone on the phone directly if there is a problem? What is their supply chain like? How do they deal with returns? What do you need to do to qualify to for the best deals?

A good company will be upfront and do everything they can to encourage you to use them, but keep the name to yourself!

You could always check out doba. Doba.com...

But you can't sell short because stock is always fluctuating.

I have never liked companies that "dropship 1,000,000 products!" I find better support, better prices, better shipping, etc with finding small companies that allow you to dropship their products.

For example: a small business located in Vermont that imports candles.

Try contacting the manufacturers themselves, the smaller ones especially might help our, or referer you to a distributor of theirs that might be able to oblige.

This is my first post, and I've been lurking on here for a while.

Depending on the volume that you are seeking, I might be able to help. I'm an Expat living in Guangzhou, China and I have access to thousands of suppliers here.

What types of products are you looking for? What volume and frequency are you looking to order?

agreed.... the key is to try and avoid dropshipping directories which basically sell you a list of contacts for a FEE and are NOT FREE.
I mean, a dropshipping is already a middleman, so when deal with them, you want to be able to get down to business immediately instead of told that you have to pay for a list of middlemen contacts. And you go another step have to get that list and contact those dropshipper again. And pay somemore. Lame ! :)

Plonk ! Until we suddenly realise that there is a site called Alibaba . Which has hundreds of thousands or millions, NOT just thousands of suppliers. :D

I live in Boston, but I have been here in GZ for the past month. I travel back and forth regularly.

Yes alibaba is a good tool, however I would only do business with a gold pass supplier, and be sure to do your own homework on the supplier. Also keep in mind that with cultural and language differences you never know what you are going to get unless you have someone physically there looking out for your interests. Alibaba is also full of agents and middlemen posing as factories, which you would never realize unless you were in China yourself to see the "factory".

As far as drop shipping goes, I'd check out the boards on Ebay. I took a peek last night, and for the most part it was full of complaints from buyers who had a bad experience with an ebay sellers who were using drop shipping.

You are better off using Doba's suppliers and not doba as they are a middleman. They have “warehouses” with code names, but each one is more of its own dropship program. That is why each warehouse has its own shipping and returns policy…because each is its own program.

For example if you look at Veratex or Moteng you will see many of the same products on doba, you will also notice that their dropship fee or shipping cost is actually lower then what is listed on Doba.

XS Depot has a good program for software. Pacific Cellular Supply is great for phone accessories. There are plenty of quality programs out there…it just depends on the type of program that you are looking for and what you want to sell.

Doba sucks...they have products you can make a few bucks on but you need another 10 hours a week to find them. I think they're on the ripoff report too.

Figure out what you want to sell and develop a relationship with the manufacturer. Call them ask them who their distributor is or if they will dropship for you. Most companies will charge a $2-3 charge for dropshipping. If you can find your product off-line. You'll have less competition.

    Good luck!
